August 2026 price concessions list stood at 230 lines by 2 September
3 September 2026
Community Pharmacy England (CPE) reported on 2 September 2026, in its 7th update, that DHSC had granted 230 price concessions for August 2026 to date. CPE's July 2026 final update, published on 4 August, gave 226 for that month.
What a price concession is
CPE describes a price concession as what applies when community pharmacies cannot source a drug at or below the reimbursement price set out in the Drug Tariff. CPE states that a concession can be requested for drugs listed in Part VIIIA, Part VIIIB and Part VIIID of the Drug Tariff, and that contractors are automatically reimbursed at the new prices for that month. Its updates add that a price concession only applies for the month it is granted.
How the August list grew
The list was built in stages. The 1st update, on 14 August, confirmed 56 concessions: 48 new and 8 rolled over from July. The 6th update on 28 August brought the total to 223 and added 22 lines, among them levetiracetam 750mg and 1g tablets, itraconazole 100mg capsules, amiodarone 200mg tablets and bisoprolol 5mg tablets.
The 7th update on 2 September added seven concessions and revised the price of ramipril 10mg capsules following CPE representations. The seven new lines were alfacalcidol 500 nanogram capsules, chlordiazepoxide 5mg capsules, dexamfetamine 5mg tablets, three erythromycin ethyl succinate oral suspensions and modafinil 100mg tablets.
Reading the count
The count is a running total, and each update only lists its own additions. CPE's 7th update was itself published after month end, so the figure for a month can still move. The 230 here is the figure stated on 2 September.
A concession list is a record of what pharmacies could not buy at tariff, not a forecast. For how trade prices behave before a line reaches any official list, see the earlier note on trade prices.
The lists are on CPE's price concessions page and its August 2026 update articles, including the 7th update.
