Moviprep and Plenvu oral powder sachets supply notification
25 August 2026
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) issued Medicine Supply Notification MSN/2026/037 on 25 August 2026 for Moviprep and Plenvu oral powder sachets. It is classed as Tier 2, medium impact.
What the notification says
Community Pharmacy England (CPE) reports that the notification gives two different positions. Moviprep oral powder sachets are in limited supply until January 2027. Plenvu oral powder sachets remain available, but the notification says intermittent delays in deliveries may be experienced until January 2027.
The notification does not give a more specific resupply date than January 2027. It directs readers to the SPS Medicines Supply Tool, which launched through DHSC and NHS England, holds the contents of each notification and also details any changes to resupply dates. Access needs an NHS email address.
On alternatives, the notification says alternative bowel preparations remain available, although their ability to support increased demand is limited. It does not name them on the CPE page.
A copy of the notification was sent to all pharmacy NHS email addresses. Pharmacies are asked to report any new shortage not listed on the SPS website through the CPE shortage reporting tool.
Reading the timeline
Both products share an end date of January 2027, about five months after the notification. Their statuses differ. Moviprep is in limited supply, while Plenvu is available with possible delivery delays.
Bowel preparation is a line where a few days' delay can move an endoscopy booking, and the notification says the alternatives have limited room to absorb extra demand. Pre-procedure prescriptions are the ones to check early. Current positions for either product are on the Medicines Supply Tool, which records changes.
MSN/2026/037 was issued on the same day as MSN/2026/038 and MSN/2026/039, which cover the Clenil Modulite and Atimos Modulite inhalers, covered in a separate note.
The notification is on the CPE page for Moviprep and Plenvu.
