Lacidipine 2mg and 4mg tablets: Tier 2 notification, resupply early November

The Department of Health and Social Care issued Medicine Supply Notification MSN/2026/046 on 6 October 2026. It is a Tier 2, medium impact notice for lacidipine 2mg and 4mg tablets, which it says are out of stock until early November 2026.

What the notification says

The notice, as published by Community Pharmacy England, names four groups of tablets that remain available.

Lercanidipine 10mg and 20mg tablets, amlodipine 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg tablets, and felodipine 2.5mg, 5mg and 10mg modified release tablets are each described as remaining available and able to support increased demand. Nifedipine modified release tablets are described as remaining available but unable to support an uplift in demand.

The notice sets out no clinical actions of its own. It points teams to the Medicines Supply Tool, which records changes to resupply dates and needs an NHS email address to access. It also says new shortages not listed on the SPS website can be reported through the CPE shortage reporting tool.

Concessions came first

Lacidipine 2mg tablets and lacidipine 4mg tablets both appear on Community Pharmacy England's price concessions list for September 2026. The final September update was published on 2 October, four days before this notification.

At the dispensary

Three of the four alternatives the notice names can take increased demand, so this is a shortage with room in it. Compare the ramipril capsule notice in September, where the notification said neither the tablets nor a switch could carry the load. The resupply date is an estimate, and the Medicines Supply Tool is where changes are recorded, so that is the place to check before a patient is told when stock is due.
